Blog North on The Guardian’s Northerner blog

Journalist and long-serving blogger Sarah Hartley has written a lovely post about us on The¬† Guardian’s Northerner blog, Blog North Awards: Reasons to be cheerful. As someone who has seen the blog awards evolve from its exceedingly humble beginnings, she’s definitely got a good perspective on the competition. She calls the new awards¬† ‘a landmark for blogging in the North.’ Naturally, we think she’s spot on.

There’s an interesting debate developing in the comments, too, about whether The Northerner/BNAs are necessary efforts to offset London’s dominance of the media, or simply reinforce the region’s “chip on the shoulder” stereotype. What do you think?
