The 2012 Blog North Awards will be held on Wednesday 17 October 2012 at 7:30pm at The Deaf Institute, 135 Grosvenor Street, M1 7HE. This is near Manchester University, just off Oxford Road, a short distance from the city centre and roughly a 20-minute walk from rail stations at Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria.

If you’re expecting white tablecloths, cocktail gowns and d-list celebrity comperes, be warned: this isn’t that kind of awards night. It’s a relaxed and informal literary affair headlined by author and blogger Adam Christopher, whose alternate-Gotham superhero noir Empire State, was described by The Guardian as ‘a truly original debut.’ It will also feature the launch of Comma Press’ new experiment in literary social networking, the Turing Text, readings from shortlisted bloggers, music and the announcement of the 2012 winners. Come along if you’re a blogger, a reader or a curious onlooker – all are welcome.
